Document Title 1 Gregory started playing the flute at the age of eight. While he was still at school, he received awards to study with Averil Williams and Peter Lloyd at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After graduating with Honours from the University of Surrey in 1984, Gregory spent a postgraduate year at The National Centre for Orchestral Studies under the tuition of Edward Beckett and Patricia Morris.
Subsequently, Gregory has pursued a performing career that has included live and recorded appearances on BBC Radio and Television, West End shows and numerous recitals, chamber and concerto engagements. He has performed in France, Sweden, Bulgaria and Spain, the latter a tour with the highly successful and versatile flute quartet Tutti Flutti involving various recitals and educational demonstrations. In 1997 he was invited to tour nationally with Sir Cliff Richard and he has appeared on numerous commercially available recordings.
More recently, Gregory has toured nationally with Pimlico Opera including workshops in prisons and has continued with engagements on BBC Radio and Television. He performs in various chamber ensembles and his duo with the pianist Mark Smith makes regular concert appearances. He was appointed Flute Tutor on the New London Music Society Summer Course in 2002.
Teaching has always been an important part of Gregory’s career and he currently holds positions at both Harrow School and North London Collegiate School where in addition to individual lessons his work includes coaching various instrumental groups. He has transcribed many works for flute ensembles and is also an accomplished saxophonist.
