Formally Thornton-Wood, I studied at Chetham's School of Music between 1982-1990, went on to Edinburgh University, reading music and then gained a scholarship to Mannes College of Music in New York, where I completed a Master's Degree in piano performance.
I am a professor of piano at the junior department of The Royal Academy of Music, London and I work as a freelance accompanist and composer. I am based in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
Together with my husband, the violist Dan Cornford, we perform as the Cornford Duo and we both play in the Loddon Piano Quartet with Cormac Browne and Roberto Sorrentino.
