Maryvonne Evans teaches piano with performing and teaching techniques drawn from French, English and Russian schools of pianism. Quality of sound production on the piano, together with avoidance of RSI is an important part of her teaching philosophy. She specialises in child beginners from the age of 5, as well as adult beginners of any age. Piano exams are taught up to Grade 8 and music theory is taught up to Grade 5. She has a long list of outstanding ABRSM exam results - most of them distinctions and merits with ZERO failures up to the present time since commencing her teaching career in the UK 30 years ago.
Maryvonne studied privately in France and the UK, and is a teacher of tremendous patience and experience. In spite of not commencing piano studies until the age of 10, her progress was so remarkable that after only 2 years, she was asked to assist her piano teacher with general music lessons for the other students, since she had already decided long before, that she wanted to be a pianist and piano teacher. Having brought up a family she has lots of understanding and empathy with young children, making her the ideal piano teacher for child beginners aged 5 upwards. They all love her to bits and of-course make good progress whilst having lots of fun! Some have entered the music profession, either as performers or teachers. Lessons are usually 30 minutes long until the child is older. Maryvonne also enjoys working with adult beginners who usually have an hour lesson. A free introductory session is available as described on the website.
